Ayr V Stenhousemuir at Somerset Park - Match Preview

Roberts hopeful of Ayr additions

Ayr United manager Mark Roberts is hopeful of adding to his squad ahead of kick off against visitors Stenhousemuir, however he was giving no clues to his transfer targets.

The Somerset Park boss, who will again be without Mark Shankland, Martin Campbell and Michael McGowan due to knee injuries, has ruled out a move for former Honest Man Chris Smith.

"It looks like I will have two trialists playing but I want the element of surprise to be working in my favour," he said.

"We are a place below Stenhousemuir in the table so the objective from this game is easy and that is to get a win and climb above them.

"We need to start climbing the table and it would be great to start now."

Stenhousemuir manager Martyn Corrigan is delighted to have top scorer John Gemmell available after two months out with an ankle problem.

Eric Paton remains absent due to an ankle knock, however 11-goal Gemmell looks set to start.

"We have been playing some good football and having plenty of possession but we have not been scoring enough goals," Corrigan said. "John could change that for us as he was in great form before he picked up that injury.

"Both Ayr and ourselves are further down the table than we would wish for, so we will both be going all out for the three points. The two games between us so far have been drawn so it would be great to win and move upwards."

A pitch inspection will take place at 8:30am on Saturday at Somerset Park.
