Ayr V Arbroath at Somerset Park - Match Preview

Shankland blow for Ayr

Ayr's plans for a third home win in a row by seeing of visitors Arbroath took a knock when young striker Mark Shankland was added to an injury list which already includes four other players.

Darren Brownlie, Anthony Marenghi and Michael McGowan have all been out long term and David Sinclair has joined them after his ankle injury failed to clear up.

Manager Mark Roberts has issued a rallying call to the remaining members of the squad.

He said: "I will have to change things around a bit for this game but whatever side we put out I am looking for us to go out and win to keep building up the reputation of Somerset Park being a hard place to come to."

Arbroath player-manager Paul Sheerin will be without the suspended Paul Currie as he returns to his former club.

The Red Lichties are again without goalkeeper Darren Hill, who is continuing his recovery from a broken arm, with the rest of Sheerin's squad out to recover from a 4-0 defeat at Albion Rovers last Saturday.

Sheerin said: "We have to put the disappointing display from last week behind us and get back to winning ways.

"I am looking forward to going back to Somerset Park but it will not be an easy trip as Ayr were always a decent team at home when I played there and that is still the case now."
