Ayr United duo Willie Easton (hamstring) and Alex Williams (ankle) are struggling for fitness for United's delayed home match with Queens Park on Wednesday night.

Both players missed the 3-0 weekend win in the first half of the double-header against the Spiders at Hampden Park, a win which co-inciding with dropped points by Raith Rovers' and which brings United to within a point of the Fifers with a game on hand.

While Ayr play tomorrow night at Ayr, Rovers are in action tonight (Tuesday) and any slip up by them could put United firmly in the driving seat for automatic promotion.

After a serious of bad results which saw Ayr drop to seven points behind Raith only a few weeks ago superb results, including a sensational 4-2 against felow promotion candidates Brechin City after being 2-0 down seemed to change the mood at Somerset Park.

Its Brechin City whom Raith face tonight and Ayr will be hoping that their hunger for success has not dimished since losing to Ayr.

Ayr United have never yet appeared in the promotion play off's at the end of the season and they will be hoping that this season is noexception - with automatic promotion being the late prize rather than losing out on a play off place.
