Ayr United produced a stunning fightback to come from two goals down.

Honest Men scored three to deservedly take full points as Forfar blew their early advantage.

The home side had raced into the lead after Alan Rattray netted from close range when the Ayr defence failed to react to a dangerous corner.

Then Mathu King scored his first goal for Forfar with a good finish after a simple ball over the top of the square Ayr defence.

Ayr were thrown a lifeline right on the stroke of half-time when Eddy Forrest handled in the box and Stewart Kean gratefully netted form the spot.

The second half belonged to Ayr and they were on level terms on the 59th minute when Paddy Connolly pounced on a long through ball from former Forfar player Scott McCulloch and placed his shot past the despairing dive of the keeper.

Their comeback was complete in the 68th minute when Marc Smyth hit a spectacular volley worthy of winning any game, striking a cross from Willy Lyle into the bottom corner of the net.
