Scobbie signs off in style

Tam Scobbie waved a fond farewell to Falkirk by opening the scoring in a 3-2 victory over Ayr in the Scottish First Division.

The departing Bairns defender signed off in style from the penalty spot after goalkeeper Ryan McWilliams had upended Farid El Alagui in the seventh minute.

McWilliams kept the deficit to a single goal as he repelled Darren Dods' bullet header before parrying El Alagui's long-range strike.

The Honest Men were level five minutes after the restart as Michael Moffat rifled home from 12 yards.

El Alagui then restored Falkirk's lead with 55 minutes gone, nodding home Blair Alston's cross from the by-line.

Roddy Paterson hit a post as Ayr sought a rapid response but they were soon two goals behind, Alston turning scorer by converting a Mark Millar cross.

Moffat clipped past Michael McGovern 10 minutes from time to set up a tense finale but Falkirk rode out the storm.
