Stirling stretched their unbeaten run to nine games with a rout at Somerset Park.

The floodgates opened when Andy Graham rose to head home in the 12th minute, but Ayr rallied with a Chris Strain header soon after to level the scores.

But it was all Stirling from then on, and they were back in front when John Fraser punished poor defending to score.

Chris Hay extended the lead with a fine finish from 12 yards after more poor defending saw Ayr throw in the towel.

Albion continued their dominance after the break, and ex-Ayr man Paddy Connolly pounced to slam home from an acute angle to make it 4-1 .

The goal of the game then came from Chris Aitken, who rifled a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner.

United grabbed a late consolation when Chris Robertson nodded home Gareth Wardlaw's cut-back, but it was too little too late.

The win takes Stirling's run to an impressive eight wins from nine games.
