Airdrie Utd 0-5 Ayr- Report

Ayr completed a double over Airdrie by cruising to a 5-0 victory thanks to a clinical second-half display.

The first half provided little action with both teams unwilling to commit too many men forward.

But the deadlock was broken just after the break when Paul Willis converted from six yards for his first of the season.

Ayr doubled their lead 12 minutes later when top-scorer Mark Roberts' audacious 35-yard effort flew past goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.

Those goals stunned the home team who never looked like getting back in the game. Any hope of a comeback was extinguished by Michael Moffat's 68th-minute strike.

Scott McLaughlin made it four with a low effort 10 minutes from time and, after being brought down by Euan Grant, Andy Rodgers added further gloss from the penalty spot.
