2005 Programme
Ayr United have played twice over the years against Lancashire club Wigan Athletic. Both have been at Somerset Park, the first being on 1st August 1984 where United recorded a 3-1 victory in a pre-season friendly.

United's John McNiven's 8th minute opener was nullified when the Latics Redshaw equalised in the 27th minute. Ayr were not to be beaten and Stevie Evans put Ayr ahead again in the 57th minute with Lex Grant making it 3 in the 68th minute.

No programme was produced.

United did even better when 2nd division Wigan traveled north on 28th June 2001. 1,300 people saw Ayr thump their English opponents by 4-0. Eddie Annand opened the scoring for Ayr in 38 minutes before Falconer headed home a Gary Teale corner in 49 minutes. Craid Nelson in the Ayr goal had kept United's early lead intact before Eddie Annand finished the game in 68 minutes with number 3.

John Bradford notched up number 4 in 85 minutes.
