Joint Programme for 2001 Match
One could almost classify this as the 'seasiders' of the English league against the 'seasiders' of the Scottish league.

Ayr United's playing links with Blackpool have been limited to two games, the first on 30th July 1984 in a Somerset Park in a pre-season friendly which attracted just 913 people, a moderate crowd but then crowds for friendlies tend to be that way.

The match ended in a 2-0 win for Ayr with Craig Buchanan converting a penalty in the 57th minute after Ayr's Lex Grant, who had only joined United, was brought down in the box. Ayr's second came in 83 minutes when Jimmy Murphy sent Gerry Christie down the left who then cut the ball back for Stevie Evans to score.

Unfortunately Ayr United did not produce a programme for this game.

Fortunes were reversed when the teams met again at Somerset Park on 23rd June 2001 and the tangerines took a 2-0 revenge when a programme was produced.
